Close the month, lock the numbers, start fresh

Closing a month is how budgetbaba turns a finished month into a record. You type the date your salary arrived, and the month is locked. The next month opens with a clean slate for new entries.

Why lock a month

Once the month is done, you do not want old numbers changing by accident. Locking keeps the totals exactly as they were, so the history you look back on is reliable.

What happens when you close

Press Close this month, check the month name, and enter the date your salary was received. The month then shows as Closed, and nothing in it can be changed. The next month opens for new bills and expenses.

  • Close with the salary date
  • A closed month cannot be changed
  • The next month opens automatically
  • History stays available to review

Questions people ask

Can I reopen a closed month?

A closed month is locked to keep its numbers safe. Plan changes for the next open month instead.

When should I close a month?

Close it once the month's salary has arrived and you have entered that month's bills and spending.

Will closing delete anything?

No. Closing locks the month. Nothing is deleted.
